If you’re seeking a peaceful getaway, Rosedale Park is a great place for a Nature Break. Spanning 472 acres, Rosedale Park is one of the most popular recreation areas in Mercer County, and part of the Mercer Meadows park district. It’s also a link in the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, serving as a connector between the Mercer Meadows Pole Farm and Pennington. The trail provides nearly 20 miles of off-road paths for walking and biking across Lawrence and Hopewell.
With its expansive meadows, tranquil lake, and winding trails, Rosedale Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy Rosedale Park’s diverse landscapes, which includes a mix of woodlands, fields, lakes and creeks that provide a habitat for wildlife, making it a prime spot for bird-watching and photography. The park’s well-maintained trails offer picturesque views, especially around Rosedale Lake, where visitors can often spot ducks and other waterfowl.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, from leisurely walks along the Lawrence Hopewell Trail to fishing in the 38-acre Rosedale Lake, which is regularly stocked with trout. There’s also the Stony Brook Creek which runs alongside the picnic grounds.
Rosedale Park has a large dog park with separate sections for large and small dogs. as well as several well-maintained playgrounds for children, and picnic areas with covered pavilions and grills. The park is beautiful in all seasons, but especially during the fall foliage season.
My favorite time to visit Rosedale Park is in the evening. The north end of Rosedale Lake offers a beautiful view of the sunset over the lake. In a visit in October 2024 I experienced a beautiful moonrise above the lake and I walked across the dam. It is incredibly peaceful and beautiful.
